This work supports the FAA's initiative to replace aging legacy flight service infrastructure with scalable, cloud-based platforms that improve safety and operational efficiency, particularly in remote and high-dependency aviation environments. This is a dual-responsibility position on a Scaled Agile team, split roughly 50% Scrum Master and 50% DevSecOps Platform Engineer. As Scrum Master, you will guide Agile/SAFe processes, facilitate team ceremonies, remove impediments, and partner with the Product Owner, Systems Engineers, and developers to align priorities and drive delivery. As Lead DevSecOps Platform Engineer, you will design, implement, and continuously improve secure software delivery platforms and automated pipelines, integrating security throughout the software development lifecycle. The platform engineering portion of this role focuses on the software delivery platform, GitLab administration, CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and developer enablement. Cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes administration, and cloud operations are handled in partnership with the Cloud Systems Owner team. You will work with software engineers, systems engineers, cybersecurity personnel, Product Owners, and solution architects to ensure software is developed, validated, and deployed rapidly while meeting the security and compliance requirements of mission-critical FAA applications. This position supports government programs and requires the ability to obtain and maintain a favorable Public Trust investigation. Primary Responsibilities Facilitate and lead all Scrum ceremonies, including Sprint Planning, Daily Scrums, Retrospectives, and Reviews/Demos, using relevant metrics and data to drive continuous improvement. Actively remove impediments by resolving blocking issues related to feature development, build and dependency challenges, operational support conflicts, and process. Provide timely status, risk, and dependency reporting to the Release Train Engineer and management, including sprint execution, team availability, and issues impacting delivery. Own the implementation and operation of software delivery pipelines, from build through production release, developing, administering, and maintaining automated build, test, deployment, and release workflows using GitLab CI/CD, GitLab Runners, AWS CodePipeline, AWS CodeBuild, and related automation technologies. Administer GitLab platform infrastructure (projects, groups, runners, repositories, and permissions) and develop reusable CI/CD templates and pipeline libraries adopted across Agile teams. Design and maintain automated deployment strategies for Kubernetes-based applications utilizing Helm, GitOps methodologies, and progressive deployment techniques. Configure and administer GitLab Container Registry, package repositories, artifact repositories, and software dependency management solutions supporting secure software delivery. Collaborate with Cloud Systems Owners to ensure cloud platforms effectively support automated software deployment, scalability, operational monitoring, and application reliability. Partner with software development teams to improve build reliability, deployment consistency, release quality, and developer productivity through automation and self-service engineering capabilities. Troubleshoot build failures, deployment issues, pipeline performance, dependency management, and software delivery problems across development, integration, and production environments. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field with 4-8 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with 2-6 years of experience. Experience working as a Scrum Master within the Agile Scrum framework, supporting Agile and SAFe software development organizations. Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining secure CI/CD pipelines supporting enterprise software development.
